International Women’s Day

What kind of wonder women do we find in the state of Ohio? There are many! But these are just some of the amazing women…

Wictoria Woodhull (1838-1927) — first woman to run for President, in 1870. That’s 50 years before women could vote!

Elizabeth M. Boyer (1913-2002) — lawyer, feminist and writer. Founder of Women’s Equity Action League (WEAL). WEAL was a national women’s organization committed to improving the status of women in the United States through legal action and lobbying for  institutional and legislative change.

Jerrie Mock (1925-2014) — First woman to fly solo around the world in 1979.

Tracy Chapman (1964-) — Singer- songwriter. She is not only a multi platinum and Grammy award winning artist, she is also a political and socially active musician.

Halle Berry (1966-) — actress. As of 2018 she is the only black woman to have won an Academy Award for best actress.
